I just felt like doing writing my results for no reason. Mainly because I'm really disappointed in them. D:
A few things to clarify:
We use a "NAME" scoring system, so the lowest mark is "not achieved" (you failed), "achieved" (you passed, but averagely), "merit" (you passed and did pretty well, above average), "excellence" (you totally aced it).
For each subject, you can get 1-3 papers but you get three hours to complete all of them (even if it's just one)
For the sciences there are four possible exams (and lots of papers) namely, "Chemistry", "Biology", "Physics" and "Science" (a mix).
This system is called NCEA and it is the national system (NZ) but not every school uses it lol.
We have lots of tests (or assignments) that count towards your final throughout the year. These are known as "internals" then the end of year exams are known as "externals". Both are important if you want to get high grade per subject.
You get a score out of 24 or 32, depending on how many questions. Your NAME format is chosen depending how high your score ranks nationally (e.g the score for a merit varies from paper to paper)
Ok, that's enough. My results.
English - 3 papers: 2 essays + 1 response to unfamiliar texts.
Got merits for both essays. Unfamilar text E. Got E for unfamiliar texts.
E overall (because of internals + E in unfamiliar texts) - Pretty happy about this.
French - 2 papers: 1 reading, 1 listening
Got E for both, E overall - I thought I failed the listening lol.
(Hm btw, I take Japanese outside of school)
Music - 1 paper: Theory
Really easy, got full marks. E obviously.
Science - 3 papers: 1 bio (genetic variation), 1 chem (acids and bases), 1 physics (motion)
Got E for the first two, got M for physics. I'm really annoyed btw, my physics paper scored higher than the bio one. And for goodness sakes, I actually studied for physics (I hate studying so I rarely do it).
Physics - 1 paper (electricity)
Another M. Everyone including my teacher thought that E would be pretty easy for me to get, I think I made them disappointed (sighs).
Chemistry - 2 papers: 1 on hydrocarbons, the other on chemical reactions.
Both E (phew).
Maths towards Calc (advanced math) - 2 papers: 1 calculus, 1 algebra.
Thought I failed both. How did I get in advanced math anyway? M for algebra and E for calculus.
My English has always been pretty bad. I suck at writing essays too (well, I get the format and I get how to structure sentences properly) but when I get there, words just get jumbled up in my head. My grammar is pretty bad but no one really cares about sentence structure and all that stuff here, so the one that really made me happy was...I got one E in English... xD
I did pretty well in my "internals" so I've got an Excellence endorsement for all of my subjects except calc (math) which is Merit (everyone else in my year doing advanced math usually gets E) but oh well, it was a pretty good year.
I feel really bad about my physics paper though. I hope the teacher doesn't hunt me down (she really seemed to expect a lot from me). x_x
Quick status report, I've been doing some freelancing for another group but I'll be back with Big Noise soon. Gufang can wait for a little longer...Cooking Master Boy, wait a little longer too...
xah.
